Symposium 2024 - The Cold is getting hot !

The Cold is Getting Hot!

Polar Symposium : From the Arctic to the Antarctic

Hybrid Event: February 22nd and 23rd, 2024

This year the polar symposium will bring together distinguished scientists, representatives of non-governmental organizations, holders of indigenous knowledge, and policymakers to discuss the challenges facing polar regions and their global impacts.

Following the panel discussions, participants will be invited to take part in workshops to identify priority issues in the polar regions and put forward recommendations and effective strategies.

The symposium is co-organized by the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR), and the International Arctic Science Committee (IASC), in collaboration with the Oceanographic Institute of Monaco - the Prince Albert I Foundation, the Monaco Scientific Center, the European Polar Board, and the World Economic Forum.

Drawing on their expertise and work on the subject, numerous partners, key experts, as well as early-career scientists will contribute to the discussions.

The symposium will revolve around two main themes:

• Development of polar initiatives for the next decade

• Adaptation and mitigation strategies in response to emerging challenges in polar regions

The Symposium will take place in person at the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco and will also be available via streaming.
