Gary is the current President of the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR). He leads SCAR’s delegation to the Antarctic Treaty Consultative Meeting (ATCM). Gary is also the Deputy Vice Chancellor of Research at the University of Waikato in New Zealand. He has led or participated in more than 40 expeditions to Antarctic or the Subantarctic.
