Institut océanographique - Fondation Albert Ier, Prince de Monaco
February 25-27, 2026Monaco
The Monaco Polar Symposium 2026 brings together scientists, Indigenous representatives and knowledge holders, policymakers, and civil society to address the most pressing challenges facing the polar regions. Through a combination of high-level panels and interactive workshops, the Symposium fosters dialogue across Arctic and Antarctic communities and promotes collective thinking on the future of both poles.
Building on previous editions, the 2026 Symposium focuses on strengthening international cooperation and shaping a shared vision for the Fifth International Polar Year (IPY-5). Across three thematic tracks, participants will work toward concrete, action-oriented outcomes designed to inform priorities, guide implementation, and help build a lasting legacy for polar research, policy, and society beyond IPY-5.
The Symposium is organised with the support of an Expert Committee bringing together specialists from the Arctic and the Antarctic, as well as an Organising Committee composed of one representative from each of the co-organisers.
