Per-Henning Mathisen is a Sámi from the Norwegian side of Sápmi. He works in the Saami Council as an advisor in the Arctic and Environmental Unit, and holds a master’s degree in teacher's education. Per-Henning grew up in a coastal-Sámi village connected to the land and sea, and seeks to combine his academic background with the Indigenous People’s knowledge from his Sámi community in the Arctic.
