Ryan leads a global portfolio of 43 ocean conservation initiatives to protect 5% of the ocean. He has overseen projects in both polar regions, including 13 years of experience focusing on Antarctic MPAs and fisheries management. In addition to partnerships in the Arctic, his current focus in the Antarctic is strengthening scientific collaboration for the durability of the Ross Sea region MPA.
